Catac.IO is an immersive arcade combat game that combines the mechanics of a traditional fighting game with the complexity and depth of an MMO. If you grew up in the 90s, chances are you remember playing Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat. Those games were iconic for their complex and deep fighting mechanics, but they were also limited by how long it took to complete a single round. Those limitations don’t exist in Catacombs because players can take as much time as they want to complete around. This results in intense tactical battles that require skill and patience. The game is best played alone, against human opponents on PC or console, but it can also be played against AI opponents (in which case all rounds are completed automatically).
This is a game in which the players control their character by entering commands as text. The goal of the game is to get as deep into the catacombs as possible, while avoiding being killed by monsters, before finally confronting and defeating the Catacomb Lord.
Catac.IO is a multiplayer game that has the unique ability to help people solve their problems, including mental health issues. It was created by Harvard psychologist and professor, Dr. Kelly McGonigal, who says it’s a good way for people to learn how to cope with tough situations. “Games can help us build our emotional intelligence and give us skills we need in life”, says McGonigal in an interview with The Daily Beast.
"Games are proven to be effective with kids who have certain difficulties like ADHD or anxiety. What's so special about Catac.io? It's uniquely designed to teach skills such as how to make decisions when you're under stress."
The game also is tailored-made for those struggling through tough times physically and/or emotionally. "It's not just about solving puzzles," says McGonigal. "It has a real community of players who want to support each other."

Catac.IO is a game of strategy and horror that has players make their way around a single map in search of the player's objective. It is a survival game where you'll be exploring, collecting items, and out-thinking your opponents to stay alive. The game is set in an ancient underground city of catacombs with unique locations and dangers lurking around every corner. With no HUD and minimal health tracking, the story comes through atmosphere, sound effects, and artwork.
